The Farmer And The Snake

Once upon a time, there lived a poor old man in a small village. He used to work very hard on the paddy fields, but all his efforts went in vain. He could earn only a very little from that field. Then one summer day, while working on the field, he found a snake in the field.

He thought, the God had sent that snake to guard his field. So he offered some milk to that snake. Next day, morning he found a gold coin near that snake. He was very happy. He continued serving milk everyday to that snake and in return he found a gold coin each day.

Then one day he had to go to the nearby town. So he asked his son to look after the snake and feed milk. But, unlike the father the son was greedy. He thought to himself, "that snake must be having plenty of gold coins inside it".

He took an iron rod and stuck the snake. The snake became very angry and attacked the boy. The snake and the boy died at the spot.

Moral Of The Story: Greediness Brings Sorrow.
